Annual Meeting
February 17– 20, 2006
Fairmont San Francisco
Dear Colleagues:
On behalf of the Northern
California Caucus of the Pacific Coast Surgical Association,
I invite you to attend our 77th Annual Meeting, which
will be held over President’s Day Weekend, February
17 – 20, 2006, at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco.
The meeting will begin
Friday, February 17, with the New Member’s Dinner
at San Francisco’s beautiful new Asian Art Museum.
The scientific sessions will begin Saturday morning
and end with the business meeting at noon on Monday,
February 20. Saturday evening will be free so that attendees
may enjoy the restaurants and activities in the Bay
Area. The golf and tennis tournaments are scheduled
for Sunday afternoon. The President’s Reception
and Dinner will be at the Fairmont Hotel on Sunday evening.
The Program Committee,
chaired by Fred Weaver, has issued the first call for
abstracts. We anticipate an excellent scientific program.
Poster presentations will be included again this year.
These will be presented in conjunction with a wine and
cheese reception to encourage lingering discussion of
these important papers. The popular panel discussion
will be continued this year. We have selected “Surgeons
as Leaders” as the topic for the panel. Tom Russell
and the American College of Surgeons have held similar
panels that have been extremely well received. I believe
surgeons of all ages, both community and academic, will
find this panel very valuable. As always, the Association
encourages abstracts from residents, fellows and junior
faculty. They are the future of surgery and our Association.
We urge members to make
this meeting a family affair. Entertainment, day care
and social events are being planned for both spouses
and children during the meeting. Members are encouraged
to bring guests, who are invited to participate in the
meeting and social events.
The Northern California
Caucus is working hard to make this year’s meeting
a memorable one and encourage you to join us in San
Francisco. Phoebe and I look forward to seeing you in
February. In the meantime, have a wonderful summer.
